---- — OTTUMWA — Ottumwa experienced its second stabbing incident within two days.
At approximately 10:10 p.m. Saturday, the Ottumwa Police Department received a report of a stabbing in the 2200 block of West Main Street. Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Ottumwa Regional Health Center, where he was treated and released.
Shortly after the report, a suspect was identified and discovered in the 1300 block of North Van Buren Street.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Cassy Bennett, 36, of Ottumwa, was charged with willful injury, a Class D felony. He is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $5,000 bond.
Just one day prior, a 40-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds was discovered in a vehicle on his way to the hospital. The officer who stopped the vehicle found out that the stabbing had occurred at Royal Rest Motel, 2211 Roemer Ave.
Hours later, officers arrested Clint Michael Loveall, 34, and charged him with attempted murder, a Class B felony. He is being held in Wapello County Jail on $25,000 bond.
