OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa baseball team extended its winning streak by sweeping Des Moines Valley for the first time in a long time Thursday at Legion Memorial Field.
The Bulldogs thumped the Tigers 16-6 in a game that only took six innings to complete in the top half of the doubleheader and they squeaked by Valley 5-4 in game two.
“It all started with pitching,” Ottumwa coach John Jaeger said. “The kids pitched phenomenal again. Defensively, we made some big plays in critical situations.”
Chase Wood picked up the win on the mound in game one and Aaron Roane was the winning pitcher in game two.
