Work releasee escapes from Ottumwa correctional facility

---- — OTTUMWA — A work releasee escaped from the Ottumwa correctional facility Monday night.

Kevin Arthur Waldron, 29, is a 5-foot-6-inch white male, weighing 161 pounds, with a tribal neck tattoo. Waldron was serving a special sentence of lifetime parole supervision after previously being convicted of third-degree sexual abuse.

"He signed out on work furlough [around 5:30 p.m. Monday]," said Gary Pietz, assistant director for the Eighth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. "Due to the nature of his offense he had on a GPS unit. Staff noticed that the unit hadn't moved in awhile. When a staff member went to the location, they found the unit but they did not find Mr. Waldron. He's taken flight from us."

Anyone with information on Waldron's whereabouts are asked to call the Ottumwa Police Department or Wapello County Sheriff's Office.
