The upcoming Ottumwa City Council agenda looks long, but council members should be able to move through several items quickly.
The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers at City Hall.
Joni Keith, the city attorney/HR manager, said the council has already been working on many of the items, such as the capital improvement projects.
Public Works Director Larry Seals submitted a report about installing six traffic loops at the intersection of Iowa Avenue and U.S. Highway 34. The change will replace six detector loops at Iowa Avenue.
The change will cover the three left-turn westbound, one advance loop eastbound, and two northbound loops.
Seals said city staff members have been contacted by the Iowa Department of Transportation about getting the traffic signal at the intersection functioning as originally designed.
“Currently, the traffic light changes on a set interval regardless if cars aren’t present due to the nonfunctioning loops,” Seals said.
The meeting will be open to the public.
