AREA GIRLS BASKETBALL ACTION: E-B’s double-doubles drop Dees

ALBIA — Three different players had double-doubles as the Eddyville-Blakesburg girls basketball team improved to 7-2 overall, 4-1 in South Central Conference play with a 57-43 win over Albia in action Friday.

Bobbi Bayer had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Marlena Terrell had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Lacey Alexander had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets, who knocked down a school record 27 of 37 free throws in the contest.

E-B’s defense shut the Lady Dees down, holding Albia scoreless over an eight minute stretch as the Rockets opened up a 16-point lead. Albia’s Kara Goemaat broke the ice, draining three second-half 3-pointers to pull the Lady Dees to within single digits, but Albia would get no closer than that.

Goemaat finished with 12 points and Reba Summers led Albia with 13.
