BRANSON, Mo. — The Indian Hills softball team won four of five games at the Branson (Mo.) Classic this past weekend. The Warriors won the first four games before falling to Crowder Community College on Saturday.
Indian Hills (10-9) opens its home schedule today against Kirkwood at 3 p.m.
In the first game at the Branson Classic, the Warriors downed Carl Albert 9-1. Ali Downing won her fifth game of the season on the mound, pitching five innings and only giving up two hits.
Emily Madsen went 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs. Kayla Lewis added two hits and three RBI. Jennifer McDonald and Erin Liebe each scored two runs in the win.
Indian Hills’ offense exploded in the next game against North Arkansas. The Warriors scored 27 runs in the easy win. Amanda Kellums threw three shutout innings for the victory on the mound. Kellums is 2-0 this season.
Liebe and Madsen combined for six hits and five runs. Katie Mullaney and Dallas Schmacker each notched two hits.
Indian Hills continued its win streak against Three Rivers, winning 3-2. Reagon Anthony and Downing combined to give up only two runs.
Kendra Gansz went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
In the fourth game, Indian Hills shutout North Central 8-0. Anthony threw five scoreless innings, only giving up 2 hits while fanning four.
Lewis again led the Warriors with two hits and two runs scored.
Indian Hills couldn’t complete a perfect trip, falling to Crowder 4-2 in the final game Saturday. Downing took a hard-earned loss on the mound, pitching all seven innings.
Gansz and Karie Downing scored in the loss.
The 4-1 trip to Branson, Mo. improved the Warriors record to 10-9 this season.
