Albia wins third straight SCC golf title



CHARITON — The Albia boys golf team made it a three-peat on Monday at the Lakeview Golf Course in Chariton.

The Blue Demons won consecutive South Central Conference title No. 3 at the conference meet. Albia’s team score of 320 was 22 strokes better than Centerville’s 342.

Davis County was third with a team score of 344. Chariton finished fifth (392) and Eddyville-Blakesburg wound up sixth (407).

Kevin Fitzpatrick of Albia was meet medalist with a one-over par 73. His teammate, Kevin Wynn, accomplished runner-up honors with 77.

Davis County’s Trevor Fowler fired an impressive round of 79. Centerville’s Tyler Gray also shot a 79 to lead the Big Reds and Chariton’s Tanner Perkins carded a 93.

Chariton hosted the Charger Invite on Saturday at Lakeview, a meet Pella won with a 320. Albia and Fairfield tied for the runner-up slot with a 335.

Wynn tied with Pella’s Aaron Smith for the runner-up spot. Each fired 78’s.

Albia competes in Class 2A sectional action this Friday.
