Mustangs fall at Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT — Third seed Jackie Taylor picked up the lone win as the Davis County girls tennis team took a tough loss to Mount Pleasant in action on Thursday.

Taylor took a 10-6 singles victory over Mount Pleasant’s Kristin Gomes.

“Jackie’s game has improved a good deal,” said Mustang coach Sandy Warning. “She played solidly and let her opponent make errors. Jackie was hitting the ball well and moved well to get to several hard shots.”

Top seed Whitney Thompson led Megan Kennedy of Mount Pleasant for much of the way, but Kennedy rallied to win five straight games and an 11-9 match win.

The Mustangs will play in team regionals against Fairfield Maharishi on Saturday, and Davis County has makeup meets scheduled Monday at Burlington Notre Dame and Tuesday at Holy Trinity.
