MOULTON — It took 14 wild innings, but the Moulton-Udell softball team managed to come out on top Thursday in Bluegrass Conference action against Moravia.
M-U then turned around and took an 11-0 win over Seymour in a Bluegrass makeup game Friday afternoon.
On Thursday, the Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the 14th inning to take a 9-8 victory over the Mohawks in a back-and-forth game which was highlighted by two outstanding pitching performances.
M-U’s Mackenzie Clark and Moravia’s Annie Moore both pitched all 14 innings, with Clark coming out with the win despite Moore striking out 26 M-U batters. Clark fanned 15 of her own to pick up her fifth win of the season.
Madison Probasco and Clark each tripled while Kaylee Stansberry homered and had three RBI for M-U, as the Eagles and Mohawks were tied at 4-4 at the end of seven innings. M-U matched a Moravia run in the eighth and matched another in the 11th, but Moravia put up two in the top of the 14th to lead 8-6. In the bottom half, Probasco’s base hit scored Kassi Guinn to tie the game and Probasco scored the game-winner when Clark reached on an error.
Kaylee Stansberry took to the mound for M-U on Friday, allowing just two hits while fanning 10 batters through four innings in the 11-0 win over Seymour. Kadarenna Sales worked the fifth inning. Stansberry helped herself out at the plate with a home run, a double and five RBI. Probasco had two hits, including a double.
M-U (9-12, 7-4) will travel to the Pekin Tournament today.

Comets drop two at Urbandale
URBANDALE — The Cardinal softball team took on some tough competition in classic action on Friday at the Urbandale Tournament, as the Comets too a 3-2 loss to Maple Valley-Anthon Oto (MVAO) and a 6-0 loss to Des Moines Roosevelt.
The losses dropped the Comets to 13-12 overall. Cardinal is scheduled to take on PCM and Lisbon in action at the tourney today.
“This shows us what we need to work on,” said Cardinal coach Steph Christner. “We have a long way to do. We need to start buying into the system and playing Cardinal softball.”
The Comets’ only to runs of the day came off the bat of Lindsay Moore, who belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning against MVAO and give Cardinal a 2-0 lead. MVAO put three runs up in the fifth to take the lead back and held on. Michelle Fuhs and Felisha Durflinger each had doubles in the contest.
