PEKIN — The 13th-ranked Pekin Panthers cruised through three games without allowing a run in action Saturday at their home tournament.
Pekin took wins over Van Buren and Belle Plaine by identical scores of 6-0, then the Panthers routed Moulton-Udell 14-0. Pekin pitchers allowed just five hits in the three games. Mycaela Crouse gave up just one hit and fanned nine against Van Buren, then allowed just two hits against to M-U. She did not walk a batter in either game. Leslie Stone gave up just two hits to Belle Plaine while fanning six batters.
Jessica Deutsch, Alexi Holmes, Brenda Fritchen each had a double against Van Buren, while Kira Swanson had a double and two RBI against Belle Plaine. Swanson and Jamie Sterling had doubles against M-U, while Crouse, Holmes and Jessie Martin had two RBI each.
The Panthers, now 23-3 on the season, travel to Highland today.
