AREA BASEBALL ACTION: Albia blanks E-B, 4-0
CENTERVILLE — The Centerville baseball team not only pulled away, but put away a battle of area teams in non-conference action Tuesday night at Pat Daugherty Field with Oskaloosa. After giving up the first run of the night, the Big Reds scored the next 11 including eight game-ending runs in the sixth for an 11-1 victory over the Indians.
A.J. Hoffman led a balanced attack by the defending state champs in Class 3A, going 3-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Michael Kauzlarich added a 2-for-2 hitting night with an RBI and a run scored while John Allgood added two hits and scored two runs.
Centerville improves to 15-7 on the season and will continue a busy week of action with another non-conference game at home against Southeast Warren Wednesday. The Big Reds return to South Central Conference action to end the week by hosting Chariton on Thursday before heading to Albia on Friday.
