PLEASANTVILLE — Jacob Batterson scored three times and the salty Eddyville-Blakesburg defense came up with a 25-20 victory over Pleasantville in area football action Friday night.

Batterson raced into the end zone on a 45-yard run, a 26-yard blast and a 56-yard interception return.

Dimitri Boyer’s 22-yard run made it 25-0 in favor of the Rockets.

“We’re so happy to get a win with all the mistakes we had. Our defense just played lights out. They really get after it,” said E-B head coach Eric Kellar.

Boyer, E-B’s quarterback, rushed for 94 yards and Batterson amassed 77 yards on the ground.

E-B (1-1) hosts sixth-ranked West Branch on Friday to open Class 1A district play.
