HARMONY The Van Buren volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Harmony Triangular on Thursday. The Warriors beat the hosting Rockets 26-24, 25-13, 25-23 before losing to top-ranked, unbeaten Holy Trinity 25-12, 25-10 and 25-12.
Morgan Caves led the Warriors in serving on the day, going 16-18 with four aces. Michelle Tedrow led Van Buren at the net with 10 kills and six blocks.
The Warrior spikers head right back to Farmington for a number of matches on Saturday. Van Buren joins Cardinal as part of the Harmony Tournament.

Cardinal spikers topped by Central Lee
DONNELLSON The Cardinal volleyball team lost a tough SEISC battle with Central Lee Thursday. The Comets lost in three games, falling 28-26, 25-19 and 25-19 to the Hawks.
Sarah Yeager led Cardinal with eight kills and four aces. Wilkester Tangasi added four kills while Jordan Franklin served up 10 assists for the Comets.
Central Lee has a really good serving team, Cardinal head coach Jayme Dannen said. I was very proud of my girls. They played great out there even in the loss.
Cardinal is at Harmony on Saturday.
Warhawks fall to Tigers
MARENGO North Mahaska spotted Iowa Valley the first two games before winning the third game in an attempt to get back in their South Iowa Cedar League volleyball match Wednesday night.
But the Tigers won the fourth game to close out the match 25-14, 25-8, 22-25, 25-9.
Tonight was definitely a frustrating night, North Mahaska coach Dana Oswald said. I was disappointed with our play as a team. We did not have the desire to win which needs to turn around for us to have success.
Joslin Ferguson led North Mahaska with eight kills and five digs. North Mahaska hosts its tournament on Saturday.

Rockets close out Clarke
OSCEOLA Eddyville-Blakesburg took down Clarke of Osceola in South Central Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night.
The Rockets won the first game 25-18 but had to squeak by the Indians 26-24 and 26-24 in the ensuing final games.
Bobbi Bayer sent 18 kills over the net and Lacey Alexander added 12 kills. Alexander also added three aces.
Im proud of how we held on and didnt give up on the match or each other, said E-B head coach Gladys Genskow.

KEOTA Keota bested Tri-County in South Iowa Cedar League volleyball play 25-10, 25-12 and 25-11 on Wednesday.
Kate Bunting was 5-5 serving and Melanie Clubb recorded two aces.
Bunting had two kills and Clubb as well as Angelee Steinke also had a kill.
Tri-County is now 0-2 and plays in the North Mahaska Tournament on Saturday.

Savages pick up third win of season
SIGOURNEY Sigourney swept English Valleys on Wednesday, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23.
Sigourneys Codi Workman had 14 kills and her teammate Katie Etter added seven kills.
Carly Hammes led the Savages with 29 assists.
Our passing and setting were really on tonight. Hammes did a great job, said Sigourney head coach Chris Carter.
Sigourney (3-1) plays at the North Mahaska Tournament Saturday.
