Downing, Charun named all-region OTTUMWMA — Two players from Indian Hills Community College have been named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s All-Region XI volleyball team.
Warrior sophomores Karie Downing from Ottumwa and Maira Charun from Lima, Peru were first-team choices on the all-region squad. Downing led the Warriors in 2008 in kills with 529. Charun was second with 519. Charun led in hitting percentage at .291 while Downing was second at .229. Downing was the team leader in blocks with 154 and was second in digs with 455. Charun was second in service aces with 33. The Warriors finished the year with a 28-26 record.
