ELDON — Senior Sarah Yeager led the way with 21 points while freshman Cory Campbell made her varsity debut with 20 as the Cardinal girls basketball team opened the season with a 61-39 trouncing of Moravia in action Friday night.
Yeager had an outstanding floor game for the Comets (1-0) — who will travel to Danville next Tuesday — as she led the team in rebounds (11) and assists (5). Point guard Chelsea Greiner led an opportunistic Comet defense with six of Cardinals’ 19 steals.
Mallory Wilson led Moravia with 11 points while Kelsey Flattery added eight.

Wynn helps Albia win
SAYDEL — Sophomore Kenzie Wynn drilled five 3-point baskets on her way to 28 points as the Albia girls basketball team opened up the season with a 63-46 win over Saydel at the Saydel Tournament on Friday.
Reba Summers also drilled a pair of 3s and finished with 15 points for the Lady Dees and coach Larry Achenbach.
The Lady Dees (1-0) return to action today at the Saydel tourney, as they take on Perry.
