IHCC drops third straight
PARK HILLS, MO. — The Indian Hills Warriors have now lost three straight games. The Warriors (5-3), who started the season with five straight wins at home, lost to Mineral Area College 68-64 in double overtime Saturday night in the Bob Sechrest Classic.
Dwan McMillan proved to be clutch at the end of regulation for the Warriors. With just 12 seconds left in the final half, McMillan drove the lane, forced a foul and stepped to the charity stripe. McMillan knocked down both freebies to force the first five-minute overtime period with a 59-59 tie.
Only six points were scored in all of the first overtime period — three by Mineral Area and three by Indian Hills.
Two of the Warriors points were scored by McMillan. This time only six ticks remained on the clock when McMillan drove the lane and nailed a shot to knot the game up again. Going into the second overtime the score was 62-62.
McMillan’s magic ran out, however, and the Warriors weren’t able to keep the game within grasp. Despite 13 points by Brandon Garrett, 12 by Aaron Austin, McMillan’s clutch touch wasn’t enough. MAC (5-2) scored six-straight unanswered points to open the second overtime and the Warriors were downed 68-64.
The Warriors lost to third-ranked Three Rivers Friday night and Kirkwood last Tuesday night.
The Warriors will return to action Nov. 28 at home against Moraine Valley.
