ALBIA — The Albia boys soccer team used a big second half — the last 30 minutes to be more exact — to defeat Oskaloosa 6-1 Thursday.
The Blue Demons only led the Indians 2-1 at halftime and through the first 10 minutes of the second half, but they exploded for five goals to secure what at first glance looks like an easy win. That score, however, is deceptive.
"It wasn't easy until the last 20 minutes of the second half," Albia soccer coach Gary Gravert said. The coach attributed his team's late game offensive fireworks to the Blue Demon's midfielders, whom he described as relentless.
Shadow Leshen tapped in two goals and Skyler Bettis, Jonah Renter, Andy Henderson, Ethan Gray and Colton Dorpinghaus each contributed one goal each to Albia's final tally.
Albia (6-2) plays Des Moines Christian at home.
