---- — The Ottumwa red junior varsity softball team crushed Albia in a doubleheader Monday, blanking the Blue Demons 21-0 in game one and 21-2 in the nightcap.
Ottumwa only needed three innings to win the first game and four to emerge victorious in the second. The girls scored 42 runs on an awe-inspiring 33 hits, while the Blue Demons got two runs on two hits.
Megan Robertson got the win on the mound in the first game. She yielded no hits and no runs while striking out four and walking two in three innings. Robertson helped her own cause at the plate -- she drove in three runs on three hits.
Ottumwa's Ellie Hammack went 3-4 with two RBI and Kaliegh Schreiner and Caroline Carlson went a combined 4-6, while scoring five runs and driving in four RBI for the Bulldogs.
Roberts had three hits, including a double while driving in five RBI and scoring four runs to lead Ottumwa to an easy victory in game two. Her offensive output was supplemented by Mallory Simmer, who went 3-4 with a double and three RBI. In addition, Kelsey Peyton went 1-2 and scored three runs.
Kirsten Mincks got the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. She gave up two runs on two hits while strking out seven and walking two.
Ottumwa white junior varsity team plays at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Osky and the red JV plays at 5 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield.
