---- — ALBIA — Mason Cox buried three huge 3-pointers on consecutive possessions as the Albia boys basketball team rallied from an 11-point second half deficit to earn a thrilling 62-60 win over South Central Conference rival Davis County Friday night in the Class 2A, District 12 semifinals.

The win sends Albia (15-7) to Oskaloosa on Tuesday to face Pella Christian for the district title. The Eagles also won a district semifinal thriller earlier in the night in Albia, edging 17-win PCM 54-51.

Cox and Matt Baker shared top scoring honors for Albia with 15 points apiece. Davis County used a 7-0 late in the third quarter to take a 45-38 lead into the second half. Cox came alive drilling three of his four 3-pointers late in the game, including a go-ahead trey that gave Albia's only its second lead of the second half.

Jacob Jones finished with 20 points to lead all scorers, banking in a 3-pointer as time expired after Blake Bayer got a steal and two free throws with 4.8 seconds left to put Albia up 62-57. Down 60-57, Mathew Hopkins missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds and Jones lost a pass from Hopkins on the next possession with the Mustangs still needed a three to tie the game.

Davis County finishes the season at 9-14.
