Mike Rodriguez led Marshalltown (17-14) with 20 points in the loss. The Warriors stepped up its defensive focus on Troidell Carter, who scored a game-high 35-points in the 104-93 loss on Saturday at the Hellyer Center. Carter was held to just one field goal and six points on Wednesday.
The win moved No. 1 IHCC (29-2) into a Region XI championship showdown with No. 17 Southeastern (25-6). The Blackhawks advanced to Saturday’s regional final in Ottumwa with an 88-71 win over Iowa Western.
The game will be the rubber match between the two Highway 34 rivals. Southeastern won at home over the Warriors 104-94, the only true loss IHCC has suffered this season. Indian Hills avenged the loss with an 84-81 victory at home three weeks later, helping the Warriors earn home court advantage for the regional final. Tip time at the Hellyer Student Life Center is set for 7 p.m.
