---- — EDDYVILLE — The Centerville boys basketball team went into the holiday break on a truly high not Thursday. The Big Reds produced their highest scoring effort of the season, scoring at least 25 points in each quarter of an 87-49 South Central Conference win at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

“They did a good job of converting in transition,” EBF head coach Travis Stout said. “Our transition defense was just not able to keep up with them.”

Jevin Jensen and Trevor Swartz shared team-high scoring honors with 16 points apiece. Jensen added eight rebounds and two steals while Swartz dished out a team-best six assists.

Centerville broke the game open early, scoring 26 points in the opening-quarter to build a 14-point lead. The Big Reds then hit a high point for the year with 30 points in the second quarter to open a commanding 56-22 edge at halftime.

Both Centerville (3-3, 2-0) and EBF (2-4, 0-2) are off for the holiday break. Both return to the floor for SCC matchups on Tuesday, Jan. 7 as Centerville will travel to Clarke while EBF will host Chartion.
