Blue Demons best Clarke; head into holidays 6-1

ALBIA — Matt Baker outscored Colin Morris in a battle of top South Central Conference scorers Friday night, 39-30, as the Albia boys basketball team outscored visiting Clarke by even more. The Blue Demons attacked a different look on defense from the Indians and pulled away late to earn an 89-65 win on Friday night.

“(Clarke) went box-and-one on defense throughout the night, but we really seemed to get a lot better in attacking it as the game went along,” Albia head boys basketball coach Kevin Archer said. “We had a 9-0 run to end the third and had 29 in the fourth, s0 we really did a lot of nice things late on offense.”

Albia (6-1, 2-0) is off until hosting Oskaloosa on Friday, Jan. 3.
