---- — PELLA — The Oskaloosa girls' basketball team were hindered by a slow fourth quarter in its 46-33 loss to Pella Christian Friday in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

"Both teams played hard," Indians' coach Steve Kaisand said. "They were able to make a big run late."

The Indians trailed the Eagles 32-31 going into the fourth quarter when Pella Christian embarked on a 7-0 rally that put some space between the Eagles and the Indians. After Indianola scored in the fourth, Pella Christian ripped off seven unanswered points to finish the game.

"They have a player named Hannah Beltman who blocked nine shots," Kaisand said, "and they made six 3-pointers, which made a big difference in the game.

Alexis Westercamp spearheaded the Indians' offensive attack with 11 points along with corralling a team-high 12 rebounds. In addition, Taylor Richardson catalyzed Osky's defense with three steals and two blocks.

Osky (1-15, 0-10) plays at Grinnell Tuesday in a Little Hawkeye Conference game.

Panther girls eke out win over IMS

PEKIN — The Pekin girls' basketball team managed to eke out a 45-44 victory over SEISC North Conference opponent IMS Friday despite getting a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds from Beth Atwood.

In addition, McKenna Gambell tossed in 12 points, corralled nine rebounds and recorded the Panthers only block. Aside from her offensive exploits, Atwood keyed the Panther offense with two assists and sparked the defense with steals.

Pekin (12-4) plays Harmony Tuesday in Riverside in SEISC North Conference action.
