Davis County dominates conference foe

BLOOMFIELD – Davis County scored two dominating victories over Clarke Monday in South Central Conference action.The Mustangs shut out the Indians in both games, winning the first 15-0 and the second 10-0. "It was definitely a total team performance," Davis County coach Todd White said. "We had a lot of contributors and that's what we strive to do at this point in the season."

Connor Young pitched a rock-solid game for the Mustangs in the front half of the doubleheader, allowing just one hit in three innings of work. Jacob Jones closed out the game for the Mustangs by pitching the fourth and final inning. Mathew Hopkins went 3-3 with a double and two RBI and Calvin Utt went 2-2 with two RBI.

Wyatt Garmon picked up the win on the mound in the nightcap. He allowed one hit in four innings while striking four and walking one. Young and Mac Chilton homered in the contest. Young went 3-4 while Garmon doubled and drove in two RBI.

Davis County (8-10, 3-7) play today at Fairfield in a non-conference game.
