Ottumwa boys vs. Des Moines Roosevelt

Time and Place: At 7:45 p.m. at Evans Middle School gymnasium.

Records: Ottumwa is 1-8, while Des Moines Roosevelt is 5-3

More offense: Ottumwa boys couldn't muster much offense in a 61-36 loss to seventh-ranked Waukee Friday after getting off to strong start in the opening minutes.

Stopping Luckett and Johnson: Daniel Luckett leads the Roughriders with an average of 13.3 points a game and Jordan Johnson also averages almost 13 a game.

Coach Kevin Kanaskie says: "We just need to put together a whole game. We played a good half against Des Moines North and a good quarter against Waukee and now it's about putting together a whole good game."

Ottumwa girls vs. Des Moines Roosevelt

Time and Place: At 6:15 p.m. at Evans Middle School gymnasium.

Records: Ottumwa and Des Moines Roosevelt are both 2-8

Stopping Burkhall: The Roughriders' Meredith Burkhall leads her team with an average of 18.5 points a day.

No scoring droughts: The Bulldogs were greatly hindered by a long scoring drought against fifth-ranked Waukee (Class 5A) Friday that lasted from the middle of the first quarter and through the majority of the second quarter.

Coach Kevin Patterson says: "You have to pressure their guards and you have to prevent Burkhall from scoring. She's a big kid at 6-foot-4 and everyone on the team has to know where she is."
