Time and Place: 7 p.m tonight at the Hellyer Student Life Center in Ottumwa.
Broadcast Info: The game will be carried live on KMGO radio (98.7 FM), KEDB radio (105.3 FM) and on the Internet at www.kmgo.com.
Records: 10th-ranked Indian Hills is 19-2 overall, 2-0 in Region XI play. Southeastern is 19-4 overall, 2-1 in Region XI.
Resuming the rivalry: The “War on 34” is back on after a one-year hiatus. Southeastern and Indian Hills, who have battled each other for numerous regional and national titles over the years, did not play last year after the dismissal of several players during the holiday break caused the Blackhawks to cancel the remainder of their 2011-12 season. The last time the two teams played, Southeastern completed a 2011 Region XI championship sweep of IHCC with a 61-58 win at the Hellyer Center in Jeff Kidder’s final game as Warrior head coach.
“White-out” night: There will be plenty of white in and out of the Hellyer Center tonight. Besides the fresh snow that fell over the weekend in Ottumwa, tonight’s game is a “white-out” night, as Warrior fans are being asked to wear white to the game this evening. There are also three seats remaining for the bus that will take IHCC fans to Saturday night’s game at Marshalltown. All riders will receive a free sandwich sack lunch from Big Apple Bagels and game tickets at $10 for Coaches vs. Cancer weekend.
Coach Peery says: “We don’t make the mistake of saying this is just another team. This is one of the best rivalries in the country.”
