WARRIOR PREVIEW: INDIAN HILLS BASKETBALL VS. IOWA WESTERN

OTTUMWA — Time and Place: 7 p.m. tonight at Kanesville Arena in Council Bluffs.

Broadcast Info: The game will be carried live on KMGO radio (98.7 FM), KEDB radio (105.3 FM) and on the Internet at www.kmgo.com.

Records: Fifth-ranked (DI) Indian Hills is 24-2 overall, 5-0 in Region XI play. Fourth-ranked (DI) Iowa Western is 25-1 and 4-1 in Region XI.

Home-court clincher for Warriors: Five wins in their first five regional games have given IHCC a golden opportunity tonight to once again ensure the road to a regional title goes through the Hellyer Center. Indian Hills has already clinched home court in a regional semifinal game and, with a win tonight, would clinch the top seed in the region which would allow IHCC to remain home for two of their three postseason games needed to clinch an automatic berth in the national tournament. The Region XI champ will have to travel to North Dakota for the District 11 finals.

Two teams on a collision course: Both Indian Hills and Iowa Western have done their parts to make tonight’s game the biggest in all of junior college basketball. After seeing an unbeaten season go by the wayside with a 79-65 loss at Indian Hills on Jan. 16, Iowa Western has bounced back by winning their last five games. IHCC, meanwhile, is riding a season-best 10-game winning streak into Council Bluffs to set up the only top-five matchup in the country tonight. The atmosphere will be intensified by a sold-out bus of Warrior fans making the trip to Kanesville Arena, where tonight is “black-out” night for the Reivers.

Coach Peery says: “Games like these are why you come to coach and play at a place like Indian Hills. It’s a chance to play a marquee opponent in a marquee game. It ought to be the best game in the country.”
