Cardinals slips by Van Buren on the road

---- — KEOSAUQUA – Delaney Ridgway threw a five-hit shut out and Cardinal slipped by Van Buren 1-0 Thursday in the SEISC South Conference action.

"We played really good defense," Comet softball coach Jerald Harter said.

Cardinal Schyler Conger managed to score on a Cassidy McMartin grounder to Warrior shortstop Hannah Haynes in the top of the seventh to help the Comets eek out the win.

Ridgway struck out three and walked two in her seven innings on the mound. The Cardinal pitcher went 2-3 at the plate and Van Buren's Jordan Billups went 2-3 for the Warriors.

Cardinal (2-2, 2-0) SEISC South opponent Harmony Tuesday in Eldon.
