OSKALOOSA — The 15th-ranked Oskaloosa girls basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 45-36 win over Des Moines Hoover in action Friday night.

Kena Veldhuizen score 21 points and Kate Hasselman grabbed 10 rebounds for Osky, which will open Little Hawkeye Conference play Tuesday at Pella Christian.

Comets fall to Notre Dame

BURLINGTON — Lindsey Moore scored 24 points, but there was little else the Cardinal girls basketball team could do Friday night in a 92-37 Southeast Iowa SuperConference loss to third-ranked Notre Dame.

Delaney Ridgeway added 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Comets (1-3), who host Holy Trinity today.

Pekin downs Wapello, 47-39

PEKIN — The Pekin girls basketball team improved to 2-2 overall with a 47-39 Southeast Iowa SuperConference North win over Wapello in action Thursday.

Senior Cheyann led the Panthers with 17 points, while McKenna Gambel added 11 and Samantha Wright scored 10. Leslie Stone grabbed 11 rebounds for Pekin and came up with six steals.

The Panthers will be back in action Tuesday when they host Columbus Junction.
