Rockets rally in fourth to beat Oskaloosa

OTTUMWA — The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont boys basketball team saved the best for last in an area rivalry matchup with Oskaloosa. The Rockets scored 28 points in the fourth quarter during a two-point Indian lead through 24 minutes into a 68-57 win at home on Tuesday.

Christian Bambrook had another big night, scoring 27 points while pulling in 15 rebounds for a game-best double-double. Trevor Leffler added 23 points, including four 3-pointers, while Trevor Swartz had 12 points, six assists and four steals.

Austin Redlich led Oskaloosa with 18 points and four trays in the loss. Tyce Sarver added 15 for the Indians, but was held in check by EBF’s Brandon Plate as a 22-9 edge at the foul line helped lift the Rockets to the win.

“The difference in the game really was that we were able to get to the free throw line and capitalize on their fouls,” EBF head coach Travis Stout said. “Brandon really played a great defensive game. He kept Sarver well below his average and did a great job on him all night.”

The Rockets (4-2) return to South Central Conference play on Thursday at Centerville. Oskaloosa (1-4) hosts Knoxville in a Little Hawkeye Conference showdown Friday.
