Falcons even record with shutout win

CRESTON — Christian Torres and Luke Schneider combined on a no-hitter through seven innings, and the Indian Hills baseball team brought the big bats to Creston on Tuesday, rolling to a 13-0 win over Southwestern.

Caleb Ratzman and Tyler Hermann each belted home runs for the Falcons while Taylor Ostrich, Dario Polanco and Kevin Velara each nailed doubles. Ratzman, Polanco and Hermann each ended up with three RBI for IHCC, while Joel Booker batted 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Torres fanned four and did not allow a hit through six innings of work, although he did walk three and the Falcons allowed four base runners on errors. Schneider worked the seventh, fanning two of the three batters he faced.

Southwestern’s Brett Bray was saddled with the loss on the mound for the Spartans (5-10), allowing eight earned runs on nine hits in just over four innings of work.

IHCC is now 9-9 on the season. The Falcons return home to face Ellsworth (6-12) in a twinbill today at Pat Daugherty Field in Centerville.
