Oskaloosa moves to 3-0 in Class 3A, District 8

OSKLAOOSA — The Oskaloosa Indians racked up 458 yards on the ground Friday night and moved back over .500 for the first time all season while solidifying a place atop Class 3A, District 8. Andrew Landgrebe rushed 38 times for 292 yards and had four touchdowns as Osky earned a 48-39 win over Norwalk, overcoming a 500-yard night of offense by the Warriors (3-2, 1-1).

Nick Rutledge and Nate VanVeldhuizen each had 15-yard touchdown runs in the first half as the Indians rallied after a Norwalk score to take a 14-7 lead after one quarter. Landgrebe then kept Osky in front the rest of the night, scoring on runs from 40 and 57 as well as two and one-yard touchdown runs to close the night out.

Mason Wisse also scored on a three-yard touchdown run while collecting 69 rushing yards in the contest. Wisse, however, had his biggest night on the other side of the ball coming up with a game-high 20 tackles to limit Norwalk’s 501 yards of offense – including 282 passing yards.

Oskaloosa (3-2, 2-0) steps out of district play next week for a road test at Keokuk.
