IHCC spikers split at DMACC Triangular to wrap up regular season

BOONE — The Indian Hills volleyball team split the final two matches of the regular season, picking up a win over Marshalltown and former Ottumwa Bulldog Ashley Salgado in four games at the DMACC Triangular. The 25-13, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19 victory over the Tigers was followed by a loss to 14th-ranked (DII) DMACC 25-17, 25-18, 25-8.

Sophomore Shelby Lauterbach led the Warriors with 17 kills on 31-37 hitting along with three aces and 13 digs. Peyton Crosser, former OHS teammates with Salgado, joined Camila Araujo and Camila Luiza at the net defensively with three blocks apiece for IHCC.

Salgado, an all-region selection for the Tigers and a national leader in digs, led the Tigers with 16 digs and a pair of aces.

Against the 14th-ranked Bears, freshman Katie Soddy led Indian Hills with 21 assists and an ace. Crosser came up seven kills at the net while Luiza had three blocks and Kassidy Guihan added a team-best 10 digs for the Warriors.

Indian Hills (17-21) is off until opening postseason play on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Warriors will open the double-elimination District D Tournament against Kaskaskia in Council Bluffs.
