Centerville, Davis County compete at Schuyler County

LANCASTER, MO. — The Centerville boys golf team picked up its second win in as many meets this year, winning a quadrangular hosted by Schyular County (Mo.) over South Central Conference rival Davis County by 22 shots with a team score of 162.

Alex Moorman earned his second medalist title in as many meets to open the season, finishing with a even-par round of 36 at Lancaster Country Club. Moorman beat out teammate Blake Dabney, who fired a round of 38 for the Big Reds.

"We took all eight guys down there and all eight shot rounds in the 40's, so I'm pleased with that," Centerville head coach Mike Carney said. "We had some guys shoot a little higher then I expected, but it's one of those things you expect to see this early in the season. It's kind of neat to see some many different guys step up to help us win our first two meets."

Davis County's team round of 184 was paced by Soloman Miller's round of 44. Mustangs' head coach Jack Boatman talked about his team's first outing of the season.

"We'll take that number. We had some big numbers on some individual holes, but you'll have that early in the season," Boatman said. "We haven't had a lot of chances to play outside yet. Hopefully we'll see those scores start to improve."

Centerville will head right back to Lancaster to participate in the Schuyler County Invitational on Thursday. Davis County will next compete at home next Monday in an SCC dual with Chariton.
