Trujillio leads IHCC golfers to lead at Augustana Classic

MILAN, Ill. — There was only one golfer in the field that required officials at the Augustana Viking Classic to use a red marker.

Indian Hills freshman George Trujillo posted a four-under par round of 68 on Friday at the Pinnacle Country Club, posting the only score below the course's par score of 72. Trujillo will take a four-shot lead into the weekend in the race for the meet medalist honor while his team will take a 10-stroke advantage into the final round of the tournament.

IHCC brought in the only sub-300 team round of the day on Friday, firing an opening-round 292. The Warriors lead Monmouth for the team title with the Illinois school holding off Illinois Wesleyan, Dubuque and St. Ambrose by five shots for second with a score of 302.

Illinois Wesleyan's Kenny Wienckowski is the closest player in pursuit of Trujillo after Wienckowski fired an even-par round of 72. IHCC sophomore Colin Pearson is right behind Wienckowski with a one-over par 73 while James Moore fired a 74 to help pace the Warriors.
