---- — DANVILLE – The Cardinal softball team used a superb pitching outing by Lexi Fullencamp and terrific night on offense to trounce Danville 16-2.
Fullencamp tossed a one hitter in seven innings of work on the hill. The Comet pitcher struck out three, while only allowing two walks.
"She was ahead of the count on most batters," Cardinal coach Jerald Harter said. "She was pretty much in control; a lot of ground ball outs tonight. They only hit four balls out of the infield."
Lindsey Davis and Lindsay Moore both blasted a home run and doubled and Morgan Honomichl went 2-3 with four RBI. Additionally, Jessie McElderry went 2-2 at the plate, Fullencamp went 3-3 and Alexis Adam went 3-5.
"When we don't boot the ball around, we're not going to give up a lot of runs," Harter said.
The Comets lost to New London 9-8 Tuesday and they fell to Keokuk 12-5 Wednesday.Cardinal (9-8, 5-2) plays at Centerville today.
