Lady Dees fall twice at West Liberty Tourney

---- — WEST LIBERTY – The Albia softball team fell twice on Saturday at the West Liberty Tournament. The Lady Dees lost their opening game to New London, 5-1, before losing to West Liberty 13-4.

Makenzie Griffin had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in Kaitlyn Spieler with the only run of the opening game of the tournament for Albia in game one. Cassie Smallwood had two hits and scored a run in game two while Sydney Weldon had a hit, two RBI and a run scored against West Liberty.

The Lady Dees returned to South Central Conference action at No. 15 (2A) Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Monday as the Courier went to press. Albia (7-11) is back on the diamond tonight in a non-conference matchup at home against No. 9 (4A) Oskaloosa.
