No. 14 Sigourney pounds out 18 hits at HLV

---- — VICTOR – Sigourney pounded out 18 hits, including seven doubles, and used a late surge of offense to pull away in a South Iowa Cedar League road victory on Monday night. The 14th-ranked team in Class 1A scored a tying run in the fourth, a go-ahead run in the fifth and five insurance runs in the sixth to put away HLV 11-5.

Brooke Schroeder had two of the Savages two-base knocks as part of 3-4 effort that included an RBI hit. Jordan Carter earned her 10th win in the pitching circle, striking out nine batters in the contest, while joining Courtnery Herman and Becca Ohland with three-hit efforts while driving in three runs and scoring three more.

No. 14 (1A) Sigourney (12-4, 10-1) was back on the diamond in SICL play at Lynnville-Sully, the only team to beat the Savages in conference play so far this year, tonight starting at 6 p.m.
