Sigourney spikers get SICL sweep over Tri-County

SIGOURNEY — After a tough week of South Iowa Cedar League competition and a split of four matches over the weekend at the North Mahaska Tournament, the Sigourney volleyball team made short work of the only match of the week for the Savage spikers on Monday night against Tri-County. Sigourney earned a 25-5, 25-5, 25-10 South Iowa Cedar League sweep of the Trojans at home, sending the Savages into a week-long break with plenty of positive momentum.

“I was happy with how we played in games one and two. We took care of business in both games,” Sigourney head volleyball coach Chris Carter said. “We switched up the rotation a little to get some new kids in for game three. I was happy overall with the effort of the kids.”

Sigourney (5-6, 3-2) will be back in action next Monday night with an SICL road test at North Mahaska. Tri-County (0-11, 0-4) is also off for a week until returning to conference action at Montezuma.
