Rocket boys roll to season-opening win at Iowa Christian

---- — DES MOINES — Despite a 20-point effort from Devon Veach and 19 points from Thomas Rutter, the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont boys pulled away early and never looked back at Iowa Christian Academy on Monday. The Rockets scored 43 points in the opening half, building a 24-point halftime lead, and cruised to a 78-59 season-opening victory.

The Rockets (1-0) is off until a weekend home-opener against Lynnville-Sully on Saturday in Eddyville.

Tri-County wins opener at Moravia

MORAVIA — Tri-County took advantage of a rare non-conference contest to open the boys basketball season on Monday. The more experienced Trojans won going away at Moravia, 62-35.

Tri-County (1-0) went right back to the floor Tuesday to open South Iowa Cedar League play at North Mahaska before hosting BGM on Friday. Moravia (0-1) is off until a road trip to Ankeny Christian Academy on Friday night.
