AREA GIRLS BASKETBALL ACTION: Haynes hits 37 points as Van Buren rolls

OTTUMWA — KEOSAUQUA — Hannah Haynes scored 37 points as the Van Buren girls basketball team rolled over West Burlington 64-39 in Southeast Iowa SuperConference action Friday.

Haynes hit 18-23 shots from the field, and also grabbed 14 rebounds, came up with seven steals and blocked nine shots.

Van Buren improved to 4-0 on the season with the win. The Warriors will travel to Notre Dame today.

Mohawks edge Murray, remain unbeaten

MURRAY — Katelynn Tracy scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Moravia girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 48-47 victory over Murray in Bluegrass Conference action on Friday.

Nicole Self and Kendall Brown each added 10 points for the Mohawks, who are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Bluegrass.

Moravia will host Moulton-Udell next Friday.

Rockets knock off Clarke, 55-51

EDDYVILLE — Tasha Alexander scored 14 points and Jarra Jensen added ll points and 10 rebounds as the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont girls basketball team improved to 3-2 overall with a 55-51 win over South Central Conference favorites Clarke on Friday.

Emma Tanner and Shanelle Bush each added 10 points for E-B-F, which is now 2-0 in the SCC.

The Rockets will host Oskaloosa on Tuesday.

Mustangs stun Centerville, 66-62

CENTERVILLE — Two Mustangs posted double-doubles Friday night as the Davis County girls basketball team took a 66-62 South Central Conference victory over Centerville.

Kate Birchmier had 22 points and 18 rebounds while Rylee Eakins scored 14 and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Mustangs improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the SCC.

Shelby Graves nearly had a third double-double for the Mustangs, as she scored 13 points and dished nine assists.

McKenna Pershy led Centerville with 20 points while Maddie Lange added 11.

Davis County will host Fairfield on Tuesday.

ELDON — Lindsey Moore scored 20 points and Danae Moses added 16 as the Cardinal girls basketball team took a 57-55 win over New London in Southeast Iowa SuperConference action on Friday.

The Comets improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in SEISC play. Cardinal will host Van Buren on Tuesday.
