---- — COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Indian Hills softball team showed something of a split personality over the weekend at the Central Nebraska Community College tournament in Columbus, Neb., as the Warriors showed passion and enthusiasm in a pair of wins and then let down in a pair of losses.

Indian Hills took an 11-4 loss to McCook Community college to open tourney play on Friday, then turned around and blanked host Central Nebraska 10-0. On Saturday, the Warriors continued that trend with a 13-1 win over North Platte, then let down again with a 13-1 loss to Southeastern Nebraska.

Mackenzie Haight took the 11-4 loss on the mound to McCook, allowing six earned runs on eight hits through just over three innings. Kaitlyn Matzen homered in the contest for Indian Hills, but McCook pounded out 11 runs on 12 hits and put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth.

Against Central Nebraska, Kendle Schieber took the 10-0 win on the mound, fanning 11 batters while allowing one hit and one walk through five innings. She also helped herself out at the plate, with a home run, a double and five RBI. Kaylyn DeCock added a double and a pair of RBI for IHCC, while Hiliary Pennington batted 3-for-3 with an RBI and Felisha Durflinger added a double and an RBI.

The Warriors kept the bats hot into Saturday against North Platte, pounding out 10 hits in the 13-1 victory. Matzen drilled two homers while Durflinger hit one home run. Durflinger, Matzen and Liz Penrose each had three RBI each in support of Schieber, who earned the win in five innings, fanning seven batters, allowing three hits and not allowing a walk. The run charged to Scheiber was unearned.

The tables then turned again for the Warriors, as Southeastern Nebraska belted 10 hits in a 13-1 five inning win over IHCC. Megan Brady was tagged with the loss, allowing six earned runs on five hits and three walks. Carrie Hudson had an RBI double to knock home Durflinger to provide the Warriors’ only run of the contest, in the fourth inning.

Indian Hills (9-18) is back in action today, when the Warriors travel to Des Moines to take on Iowa Central.
