Osky takes crown at Knoxville Relays

KNOXVILLE — The Oskaloosa girls track team claimed seven events on the way to the team title at Knoxville on Saturday.

The Indians finished with 170 team points, ahead of second-place Pella’s 163,

Claiming individual titles for Osky were Taylor Crawford in the shot put (35-5), Bailey Blythe in the 3000 (11:51.11) and in the 1500 (5:28.50) and Tori Palmer in the 800 (2:34.56).

Three Osky relay teams also took crowns, including the distance medley (Taylor Richardson, Melanie Harvey, Brey Hill and Tori Palmer; 4:29.71), the 4x200 (Kristi Edwards, Asia Laudermilch, Harvey and Payten VanWaardhuizen; 1:54.66) and the 4x400 (Blythe, Palmer, VanWaardhuizen and Brey Hill; 4:26.46).

Pekin girls win team crown at Creek Classic

TIFFIN — The Pekin girls track team took the crown on Friday in Class B of the Creek Classic in Tiffin.

The Panthers had 150 team points, well ahead of second-place West Liberty’s second-place 86.

Claiming individual event crowns for the Panthers was Gwynne Wright in both the 3000 (11:10.00) and the 1500 (5:05.74). Pekin relay teams also claimed first place in the 4x800 (Whitney Horras, Maleaha Earnest, Sloan Reighard and Samantha Wright; 10:46.30) and the distance medley (Mallory Reed, Beth Atwood, Whitney Horras and Gwynne Wright; 4:31.91).

Van Buren boys take fourth at W. Burlington

WEST BURLINGTON — The Van Buren boys track team achieved a fourth-place finish at the Falcon Coed Relays held at West Burlington on Saturday.

Van Buren finished with 85 team points. West Burlington Notre Dame won the meet with 206 team points, followed by Columbus Junction at 105.

Van Buren sophomore Brayden Starnes placed first in the 800 run in a time of 2:16.70. Starnes also led off Van Buren’s 4x800 relay team, that included Garrett Saunders, Wyatt Cole and Thomas Fitzsimmons. That team took first place in a time of 9:09.11.
