Albia takes crown at Wilton

WILTON — The Albia boys track team was able to take the crown on Monday at the Kreimeyer Relays, hosted by Wilton. The Blue Demons edged out North Cedar and host Wilton for the team title.

It was an especially big night for the Albia 4x100 relay team, as the Blue Demon foursome of Ryan Sarver, Alex Schultz, Brett Leshen, and Luke Sarver ran a record time of 3:27.05.

"I am very excited about the focus we have shown throughout the early stages of the season,” said Albia coach Todd Ratliff.

Albia also took first-place finishes in the 100 dash (Schultz, 11.31), the 400 (Tanner Wynn, 54.61), the 800 (Wynn, 2:10.6), the discus (Kieran Judge, 131-7.5) and the 4x200 (Schultz, Leshen, L.Sarver and R,Sarver, 1:33.43), 4x400 (R.Sarver, Schultz, Leshen and L.Sarver, 3:27.05) and distance medley (Hunter Weldon, Judge, Cole Kurimski and Hugh Sinclair, 4:08.11) relay teams.

The Albia boys were scheduled to run at Chariton on Tuesday evening and again on Saturday at a meet in Oskaloosa.
