---- — OTTUMWA - The Indian Hills cross country teams concluded their season on Saturday in the NJCAA Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge.
Two IHCC men’s runners posted their fastest times of the year in the season-ending meet that brought together over 300 athletes in both the men’s and women’s races. There were 58 men’s teams and 60 women’s teams represented.
Eric Davis paced the Indian Hills men’s squad over the 8K course, leading the Warriors for the sixth time in eight meets this fall. Davis finished in 29:21, narrowly missing his goal of running under 29 minutes.
Ray Quiroz was one of the Warriors who turned in his best time of the year, running 30:10, four seconds better than he had run before.
Colter Hentzel was next for IHCC in 30:20, followed by Hunter Wilz in 32:01.
Ben Wheeler was the other Indian Hills runner with a personal best, finishing in 32:41, 1:26 faster than any time during the season. Wheeler knocked 5:47 off his time during the year.
Austin Emry ran 33:35 for the Warriors.
The Warriors were without Tyler Walker, a returner from last year’s team and someone coach Jim Streeby said was poised to be his fastest runner this season. Walker was sidelined for all but one meet with a broken foot sustained during the summer.
Addison Kepner led the IHCC women’s runners for the second meet in a row, running 21:58 over the 5K course. Sage Richmond was next in 22:31 and Sarah Keith followed in 23:43.
Keith topped the Indian Hills runners in four meets, Kepner three and Richmond one.
