---- — OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa baseball team went 1-1 against Des Moines Lincoln Wednesday in a CIML Metro Conference doubleheader Wednesday.
The Bulldogs trounced the Rails 10-4 in game one, but they couldn’t quite muster enough offense in the nightcap, and they ended up falling to Lincoln 5-4.
Bryce Ward picked up the win on the hill for the Bulldogs in the first game. He threw the first four innings before he was relieved by Austin Denniston.
“Seth Griffiths had a good game, Collin Schulz hit the ball well,” Ottumwa baseball coach John Jaeger said about the first game. “Everybody swung it pretty well.”
Spencer Fuller took the loss on the mound in game two.
“We had some opportunities to score in game two, and we just didn’t execute,” Jaeger said. “Game two wasn’t really our baseball, but we battled the entire time.”
Ottumwa (12-11) plays at Cedar Rapids Kennedy today.
