TIFFIN — Hannah Bormann scored four goals to lead Clear Creek Amana to a 5-1 win over Fairfield in a Class 1A girls’ soccer regional semifinal Friday. Kelsey Hall had a hand in all five Clipper goals against the Trojans, scoring once off an assist by Ellie Iglehart and assisting on all of Bormann’s goals.
"I think the score was deceptive," Clear Creek Amana coach Matt Harding said of the victory over Fairfield. "They were a really good team. We got four goals right before the half, and that let us settle down."
The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for Fairfield, who advanced to the regional semifinals for the second-straight year. The Trojans finish the season with a record of 12-4 while Clear Creek-Amana (15-2) played Iowa City Regina on Monday for a berth in the Class 1A Girls State Soccer Tournament.
Bondurant-Farrar also moved within one win of the girls state soccer tournament after shutting out Centerville 6-0 Friday in other 1A regional semifinal action. The Redettes were making their first appearance in the regional semifinals since 2008 and will finish the season with a record of 4-11.
