WAPELLO – The Pekin softball team had its longest winning streak of the season snapped at Wapello on Tuesday. The Arrows took advantage of four Panther errors, leading to five unearned runs, as Wapello held off a late rally by Pekin with three runs in the sixth to earn a 6-3 Southeast Iowa Superconference north division win.
“We kind of kicked the ball more than we would have liked,” Pekin head softball coach Allison Glick said. “The girls certainly bounced back and hung tough. They made a close game right to the end. I’m proud of the girls for finishing out strong.”
Pekin (8-6, 6-4) will be back on the diamond looking to start a new winning streak with a varsity doubleheader at Central Lee on Wednesday.
