Hello race fans and welcome to The Pit Stop.
A couple weeks ago, I wrote about the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa starting a Hall of Fame and the first group of nominees were made known to the public. 25 nominees were put on the ballot for fans, racers and crew members to vote for five of the 25 nominees to be inducted into the SIS Hall of Fame.
The people voted, the votes have been tabulated and the top five vote getters were announced last week during the Great American Stock Car Shootout. The first five inductees into the SIS Hall of Fame are Denny Banks, Aaron Brown, Bill Davis Sr., Bobby Greiner Jr. and Randy Schroeder.
As I stated in my column a couple weeks ago, I didn’t know how you could narrow it down to five out of those 25 nominees so I am sure the vote totals were close. Congratulations to the first five inductees. All five are deserving of the honor.
And speaking of the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, they kick off the week of racing tomorrow night with the Dave Lowry Memorial/Monte Motor Parts night at the track. It is also ‘Trick or Treat’ Night in July for the kids. The drivers will line up on the front stretch with candy for the kids that are in costume.
Eddyville Raceway Park will only have Friday night action this week. It is a Fun Night with the High School and Team Challenge Racing scheduled for points and open testing for everyone. It is also a Midnight Madness night of action from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
They are closed on Saturday as well as being closed all of next weekend. The staff at ERP worked long and hard this past Saturday to get the Night of Fire all completed and they deserve a ton of credit for their hard work. Great job ERP crew!
