McConnell runs well at Keokuk

KEOKUK — Cody McConnell had a huge night for the Ottumwa boys track team, as the junior Bulldog set personal best times in the 1,600 and 3,200 when the Bulldogs competed in the Keokuk Invitational Thursday.

McConnell took second in both the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 4:46.03 and 10:16.54.

In addition, Ottumwa’s 4x200 team of Seth Griffiths, Isaiah Hutchison, Isaiah Cox and Titus Weller snared third with 1:40.36 and the 4x800 team of Andrew Belachew, Kaleb Norris, Shane Riley and Henry DePaz took third with 9:24.74.

Griffiths snared third in the 100 dash with 11.83 and Chris Peden grabbed third in the discus with a throw of 126 feet.

“I think we scored in just about everything, so that was nice,” coach Jim Nickerson said.

The boys will compete Tuesday at the Davis County Invitational.
